There are no illustrations in this book, which the original 1980 edition had, but maybe that is best so the reader is left to picture his/her own images of the scenes and characters. Meehan cleverly adapts the song lyrics into his prose an "Easter Egg" for those who know the Broadway songs very well. This novel contains many scenes and characters which had to be cut from the stage musical, which are interesting to read and imagine what they might have been like on the stage.

Meehan's own words how he developed the story of the Broadway Stage Musical (which of course was adapted for movie and tv in 1982, 1999, and 2014). This edition is a reprint of the extremely rare "Annie: An Old Fashioned Story," and I am very glad to see this book reprinted for new generations of Annie fans young and old to read and enjoy! This edition includes a new introduction by author Thomas Meehan, and it's nice to hear in Mr.
